Haus der Braut
Armoured roller doors securing fronting East End shops lock together to form an intricate curved profile: up close it has an uncanny resemblance to an arabesque.
This wave-like pattern is the leit-motif of the exhibition: rolled doors sits alongside the folds of an origami swan and the curvature suggested by the "worm-like state" designated to a wife by her husband in her divorce settlement. These juxtaposed objects invite us to develop a narrative of intimacy between the artefacts. The title alludes to this potentiality by simultaneously meaning a bridal dress store and literally "house of sausages".
